The Fjellstrand Motion Dampening System, Fjellstrand MDS, was developed by Fjellstrand to enhance the riding performance of our vessels in heavy seas.

The Fjellstrand MDS automatically counteracts the vessel's motion by means of computer-controlled foils and interceptors. The foils are submerged in the fore part of the vessel whereas the interceptors are mounted to the transom. The MDS is hydraulically operated.

In rough conditions, test results and operational experience clearly show a vast improvement in passenger comfort. The MDS enables the vessel to maintain higher speeds than vessels without MDS in such conditions.

With approximately 50 systems in operation worldwide, the Fjellstrand MDS has proven to be a reliable and efficient system.

The Fjellstrand MDS can also be fitted to existing vessels. The optimum configuration consists of foils and trim interceptors, however the system performs well with just foils or trim interceptors installed.
